Berry Bros to close Dublin store
Fine wine merchant Berry Bros & Rudd is to close its Dublin store at the end of July and make 12 staff redundant after ten years of trading. Berry Bros blamed the high cost of operating a retail outlet in Dublin, delivering an inadequate return on investment, rather than the economic downturn. The lease was up for review and the time was right to leave, according to managing director Hugh Sturges. As well as the shop there was a wholesale business supplying restaurants and a hospitality arm.
The company hopes to continue to serve Irish customers by shipping from the UK.
