Churches told to stop serving wine

Catholic churches in the Diocese of Plymouth have been advised to stop serving wine at communion as the World Health Organisation upgraded the seriousness of swine flu and two cases were found in the city of Plymouth.

Churches were also advised to hand the bread or wafer to worshippers rather than place it on their tongues. The Plymouth Diocese covers almost the whole of south-west England, serving Cornwall, Devon and Dorset.
