Smaller measures legalised

The UK Government plans to allow sample measures of wine to be served in bars and restaurants by deregulating wine measures under 75ml. Under the current law wine can only be sold in measures of 125ml, 175ml and multiples of these, e.g. 250ml. But the wine trade has lobbied the National Measures Office for smaller measures to be sold to assist with sampling and tasting sessions. Under the new proposals beer will also be available as two thirds of a pint, nicknamed a 'twother', and port in smaller sizes of 50ml and 70ml.
