Vinopolis is 10
London's Vinopolis is celebrating its 10th birthday this month proving itself as one of the world's more successful wine centres. While others have fallen by the wayside, Vinopolis remains standing. Vinopolis, City of Wine is located on the south bank of the Thames on a one-hectare site and attracts 600,000 visitors a year. It's had its ups an downs, failing to attract sufficient numbers in the early days but has diversified to offer whisky tastings, absinthe, Bombay Sapphire gin, rum and a microbrewery. Last year it launched the Laughter Lounge a regular comedy night. The venue brings in profits of £1.3m on an an annual turnover of £8m.
