Children's charities back minimum pricing
Children's charities in Scotland have joined forces to back plans to introduce minimum pricing for alcohol in order to protect children from harmful drinking by a parent or carer. The NSPCC's ChildLine service along with seven other charities have issued a statement to the Scottish health and sport committee, urging politicians to put children's interests at the heart of alcohol policy.
Proposals by the governing Scottish National Party to enforce minimum pricing have been strongly opposed but ChildLine say that harmful drinking can dominate family relationships and affect children's wellbeing and so the alcohol policy needs to implement measures that will protect children from harm.
