Spy Valley Wines win big
Nice to see some Thirty Fifty favourites winning at the prestigious International Wine and Spirits Awards last night!
Spy Valley Wines won 'New Zealand Wine Producer of the Year'. This is the second time that Spy Valley has won this highly contested trophy (also in 2008). No mean feat considering the high quality of New Zealand wines entered.
Spy Valley's total medal haul included:
09 Spy Valley Gewurztraminer = GOLD MEDAL (BEST IN CLASS)
09 Spy Valley Pinot Noir = SILVER MEDAL
09 Spy Valley Pinot Gris = SILVER MEDAL
09 Spy Valley Riesling = SILVER MEDAL
09 Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc = BRONZE MEDAL
Australian Wine producer Chateau Tanunda won 3 golds and overall Australian Wine Producer 2010. We met the guys recently and Chris interviewed them, look out for that on our podcast.
Well done also to Peter Richards and Susie Barrie for winning Wine Communicators of the Year. And to Ridgeview Wine Estate who won United Kingdom winemaker of the year. The overall Winemaker of the Year was spanish producer Gonzalez Byass.
