New bottle shape that decants wine as it pours

Spanish Michelin-starred chef Martin Berasategui has helped design a new bottle that traps sediment in the base. Together with packaging company Estalpackaging they may have done away with the tradition of decanting.
The new design, which recently picked up an “Oscar de l’emballage” in Paris, is pinched close to its base which forms a chamber in which the dregs can collect and be retained. Furthermore, the odd shape means that the bottle itself becomes a decanter due to a vacuum effect that is created when wine is poured. Several wineries have already begun using the bottle.
