Red Wine can be medicinal but isn't anti-ageing

Early research showed that resveratrol the chemical found in red wine can lower the risk of deadly diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancer. It also suggested that it might slow ageing on a cellular level. This prompted many pharmaceutical and nutritional companies to promote and invest heavily in resveratrol products.

However the University of Connecticut reviewed more than a 100 studies on the chemical and came back with the conclusion that there is no scientific basis to suggest that lifespan can be expanded. Their argument is that research into the longevity of mammals should involve humans and last for decades and would take years of dedication. Current studies only offer a snapshot. So reservatrol still holds many mysteries and science is still at the starting line.
