WineOption campaigners make case for clearer labelling
Wine campaigners, WineOption.org responded to a new study in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) by calling for clearer alcohol labelling for wine. The study found that 1 in 10 of all cancers in men, and 1 in 33 in women, were caused by past or current alcohol intake. The WineOption.org campaign aims to put pressure on the wine industry, supermarkets and the Government to make people aware of the alcohol content of wine and help them make informed choices. They also want to encourage the sale of lighter, less alcoholic wines, claiming the alcohol content of wine has been steadily creeping up over the past 20 years.
