Bordeaux producers break with tradition

The French are throwing tradition out of the chateau window with the first Bordeaux-branded wine from the country’s biggest wine exporter. Called La Terre, the range offers a straight red Merlot and a white Sauvignon Blanc, rather than the Bordeaux blends for which the region is famous. The wines, launched by Les Grands Chais de France, are hoped not only to win back lapsed Bordeaux drinkers but also to appeal to current fans of New World wine.
