Wine critic Robert Parker is scaling back role
With the passing of time, so is that passing of the US's most influential wine critics. Robert Parker is planning on scaling back his tasting role and has passed the baton for California wines to his understudy Antonio Galloni.
Antonio will now be responsible for tasting new releases of California wines, Cote D'Or and Chablis. Robert Parker will continue tasting vertical and horizontal tastings of California, but will no longer rate new vintages.
With many people disapointed with the direction of California wines, who have changed styles to bigger wines, to get high Parker points, the question will be whether Antonio Galloni will continue with this? In a statement that down played his new role at the Wine Advocate, Antonio says everybody’s going to be disappointed. He plans on being his own man, not following Parker's wine preferences of high alcohol and extract yet not shunning wines that Robert Paker has advocated.
