Olympics hits wine business hard

The London 2012 Olympics has failed to bring extra custom to central London as Londoners have stayed away, heeding messages from Transport for London to avoid travelling to keep the transport system moving and avoid gridlock. The British Hospitality Association (BHA) is now urging London Mayor Boris Johnson to take part in a PR campaign to help drive more people into London’s restaurants, shops, and theatres. Restaurants in the West End and City areas are reporting a big drop in business since the start of the Olympics but pubs who are showing the Olympics on screens and those closer to the Olympic Park seem to be doing well. Meanwhile actually getting supplies to venues in central London has been relatively smooth with night time deliveries helping and traffic much lighter than anticipated.
