Richard Balfour-Lynn on Balfour Rose

This show was published Friday, May 15, 2009

Overview

Richard Balfour-Lynn owns Hush Heath Estate in Kent and produces an award-winning sparkling rose. His main business interests lie in hotels and catering but we find out about his passion for wine.

The vineyard is at his farm in Kent and produces a sparkling rose called Balfour Brut-Rosé which is available in M&S and Waitrose.
In the hot summer of 2003 they made 1000 bottles but the first commercial vintage was in 2004, which won a gold and a trophy in the International Wine Challenge in 2008. They currently produce 15,000-20,000 bottles a year.
