- Limari and Botrytis wine with Nicolas Jarpa from La Playa
Overview
Nicolas Jarpa is the export manager for the La Playa winery in Colchagua Valley. In this second interview we hear about La Playa's Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc and how the winery began producing it by letting botrytis take hold in vineyards that were too humid to produce a regular dry style. We find out how botrytis creates deeper, sweeter, aromatic characters balanced by the fresh fruit acidity of Sauvignon Blanc. Nicolas also talks about a new wine region, Limari, 600km north of Colchagua where the constant coastal breeze from the Pacific makes it cooler than the more southerly vineyards and where exciting things are happening.
