- Jose Vouillamoz DNA Mapping of Grapes
Overview
Jose explains how DNA profiling of grapes works. Grape DNA profiling has only been developed in recent years and was first carried out in 1993 in Australia and later in California at UC Davis. In 1997 a paper was published revealing Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc as the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon and Jose tells us the story of how in 2009 the second, missing parent of Merlot was discovered.
