Overview

Richard Bampfield MW talks to us about his work as a wine consultant and his variety of roles such as competition judge, speaker, wine tour guide and as the wine expert for Lidl. Richard began in the wine trade after spending time in France, studying French and decided to embark on a career path that involved wine. After university he worked in a wine shop and became the manager. In the 1990s Richard moved south and worked for Brown Brothers managing the European office. Now Richard works for himself and has a range of work and clients, the biggest being Lidl. He also runs the WSET wine course for Leith's School of Food and Wine and independently hosts wine tours to Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne.
