- Rias Baixas with Simon Barcia from Noelia Bebelia
Overview
We talk to winemaker Simón Barcia from Noelia Bebelia vineyards in Rias Baixas which is located in Galicia in the North West of Spain, to the north of Portugal. The main grape variety is Albarino and they produce 20,000 bottles a year accounting for half of the Soutomaior region's output.
Simon and his wife started from scratch, from planting the vines (now 11 acres) to building a small winery. They had their first commercial vintage in 2016 and are now exporting their wines. We talk about the climate, soils, viticulture and winemaking.
