Overview
Olly first tasted wine as a student at a free tasting at his local Oddbins in Edinburgh. He loved it and went to the free tastings every week from that point on. While employed as a scriptwriter in 2005 he entered and won the Hardy's Wine Idol competition out of around 6,000 entries. He went on to present wine on satellite tv channels (Taste, Food Uncut) and from there he was signed up to appear on BBC's Saturday Kitchen and Richard & Judy's wine club. Olly has the WSET advanced certificate but he relies on his travels to wine regions and going to tastings to keep up his wine knowledge. Future projects include a book, writing wine columns and more TV work. At Olly's website www.hotbottle.co.uk you can sign up for his free newsletter with wine recommendations.
