Rudy Kurniawan convicted of wine fraud
A New York court reached a guilty verdict this week in the counterfeiting trial of Rudy Kurniawan. It took the 12 strong jury less than a morning to reach a guilty verdict on 2 charges of both mail and wire fraud. Strong evidence had mounted over the week proving that Rudy Kurniawan's house was a factory pumping out copies of some of the worlds finest wines - some of a vintage not even possible! Winemaker Laurent Ponsot explained to jurors last week how a purported Domaine Ponsot Clos Saint-Denis 1945 'cannot exist', because the estate only began producing under this appellation in 1982. Kurniawan is due to be sentenced on 24 April.
