Winemakers watch Etna erupt
Winemakers watched on as Mount Etna sent lava erupting upto 8km into the sky, after it's first eruption in 2 years. Vineyards remained unscathed, but maybe that isn't the outcome they were wanting? After the lava eruption there was a huge plume of ash. As Christian Liistro of Tenuta delle Terre Nere explained these ash emissions from the New South East Crater will be greatly beneficial due to its fertilising effect. The last time actual lava from Etna reached the vineyards was in 1981.
