Soave create 33 new Cru vineyards

The North Eastern Italian wine region of Soave, has created 33 new vineyard based designations known in Italy as ‘Unità Geografica Aggiuntiva’ or ‘Additional Geographical Units’ (UGA)

The new designations mean that the name of the vineyard will be able to appear on the bottle from the 2019 vintage. The UGA, equivalent to a Cru in France, covers 38% of all Soave wines.

Soave is a light white wine made primarily from Garganega, the wines often can be light & simple and low-priced, but more concentrated wines exist, including Classico Soave.

The new sites are: Castelcerino, Colombara, Froscà, Fittà, Foscarino, Volpare, Tremenalto, Carbonare, Tenda, Corte Durlo, Rugate, Croce, Costalunga, Coste, Zoppega, Menini, Monte Grande, Ca’ del Vento, Castellaro, Pressoni, Broia, Brognoligo, Costalta, Paradiso, Costeggiola, Casarsa, Monte di Colognola, Campagnola, Pigno, Duello, Sengialta, Ponsarà, Roncà- Monte Calvarina.
