ThirtyFifty launches tastings in Oz
Australians that don’t know their Sauvignon from their Semillon now have the chance to learn something about wine as UK tasting company ThirtyFifty is launching down under.
ThirtyFifty offers wine-tasting experiences at home or at work, which is a unique concept at present in Australia, according to Chris Scott, who heads up the company. He said, ‘We think the Australian consumer and the corporate market will take up the idea with the same enthusiasm as the British – it’s a novel idea for a whole host of get-togethers, from hen weekends to work parties to birthday celebrations.’
Tastings on offer are home-grown wines, Australia versus the rest of the world and international wines and the company will have a team of wine consultants running these in and around each of the state capitals – Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Chris explained, ‘We come armed with wines, glasses, tasting notes and all the ingredients for a fun-packed session. Guests are then guided through a series of wines.’
There are also a few trade tricks thrown in too, such as how to estimate the value of a bottle of wine and a way to find out who has the best palate.
