Spirits switching results in fine

A Thai restaurant in Cambridgeshire has been fined after passing off cheap booze as Smirnoff and Barcardi. Trading Standards Officers discovered the switch as part of a routine inspection at BKK Thai in Ely. Tests revealed that the bottles actually contained Magic White Rum and Chekov Vodka. The company’s managing director was left with a £2,500 bill after town magistrates fined him under the Trade Descriptions Act.
