Motorhead launch the Ace of Shiraz
Rock legends Motorhead have lent their name to an Australian Shiraz to be launched in the UK. The wine has already enjoyed some success in Scandinavia since 2010 – where the band also has a huge following. Motörhead Shiraz 2010 is produced in Southeast Australia by Broken Back Wine. The band follows in the footsteps of Australian rockers AC/DC who announced a range of branded wines named after their songs, such as Back In Black Shiraz, last month.
Whilst Motorhead and AC/DC are simply putting their name to a wine other rockstars including Cliff Richard, Madonna, Olivia Newton-John, Sting, Mick Hucknell and Mick Fleetwood own their own vineyards and produce their own wines.
But by far the most prolific celebrity vineyard owner is Gerard Depardieu who has Chateau de Tigne vineyards in Bordeaux, Langueudoc, Algeria, Argentina, Morocco, Spain, Sicily and United States.
