Champagne Overview with Francoise Peretti from the Champagne Info Bureau
Francoise is director at the Champagne Information Bureau based in London. In this interview we hear about the Champagne region and its history as well as how the method of Champagne production has evolved over the years. We also touch on the production of pink Champagne and compare the two methods of skin contact vs blending white and red.
We talk about the sub-regions within Champagne which in total has over 220 houses and 15,000 growers and stretches from Reims in the north to Troyes further south. The different regions produce a diversity of styles within them, usually dictated by the style of the winemakers and the champagne houses rather than the region itself.
I thought the questions were excellent, an extremely valuable revision tool. They really helped highlight areas I thought I had revised and understood but clearly had not, which has enabled me to focus on key areas to revisit and study before going into the exam... I think it is a great resource and an essential revision aid for any WSET 3 students wishing to gain a competitive edge and successfully pass the WSET 3 exam.
