I think he felt it was a bit of a rush - but that's because he has so much knowledge to impart! We certainly learned a lot - and with such good humour. Thank for running a lovely, memorable evening last Saturday, we all had a thoroughly enjoyable time. You pitched the commentary spot on, with just the right mix of technical and less formal information to fit with the mixed level of expertise in the room - a very neat trick to pull off.
A very minor observation, one or two people would have been happy to run a slightly quicker through one or two of the wines, perhaps overlapping the conversation and the tasting a bit more - but I think this is probably unavoidable with a mixed group of 20 people and certainly not a critisism.
Thanks for the tasting notes and I've subscribed to your podcast too. I couldn't see anywhere to leave comments on your website but would be very happy to record a 5 star review if I've missed the link or you use any of the other review platforms, please just let us know.

Thanks for your email. We had good fun and I think everyone learnt something about wine that they perhaps didn't know before. We all learnt that our taste buds and noses need a bit of training too! Helen was great and managed the call really well - it was a big group (x12) and all university lads on a Friday night, so well orchestrated for what could have been a slightly unruly group.

Friday night was a huge success and I've had such positive feedback from everyone who attended. Chris delivered a very informative and entertaining evening and he couldn't have done a better job. The Quiz rounds were very popular and really did bring the whole evening together.
The cheeses that Teddington Cheese paired with the wine were perfect and for your own interest they were Brie de Meaux, Schlossberger, Lanark Blue and Rachael - my new favourite cheese is Schlossberger!
I think this is an event we will put on every other year so we'll definitely be using you again and I'll spread the word.

A brief note to say thank you to you and Helen for organising an excellent event on Saturday evening at Maggie's 50th celebrations and asking you to specifically pass on our thanks to Helen for providing such an interesting evening
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the tasting and commented on how well Helen presented it and her knowledge of the subject - the wines went down very well and the party afterwards lasted until well after midnight.
The wine selection was excellent and we enjoyed the New Zealand dessert wine served at the end of the event - a great way to finish off.
We do have one question - can you tell us what the two wines presented for the blind tasting were? - we enjoyed them too much to take any notes of the names!

Secondly, and just as important, on behalf of the Committee, members and guests of the Society, a huge thank you for your wonderful presentation on New Zealand wines. Even though you have lived in the UK for a while now, your love for your country and their wines shone through. It was informative, witty and generally just very enjoyable, especially when you had us standing to taste one of the wines!! A first for the Wine Society, and I think you had most people when you alluded to Australia as being the third Island!!

It all went well thanks; Abbie was very professional. I think she may have thought we were a bit naughty, as we were all rather jolly when she was talking about the wine initially, but once she had our measure things went very well indeed.
All the guests said it was ‘stroke of genius’ as a good way to start the house party weekend.

Made us feel really relaxed, and she joined in with our banter/silliness and blended into the group seamlessly. We loved the wines and felt the cheese portions were really generous - very good value for money! Some proper learning and lots of fun. Cannot praise her enough really! Also, from an organiser's point of view I thought you and Helen were both great to work with - I contacted a few other companies to price compare etc and your responses filled me with so much confidence that we were going to be looked after and have great service that it was easy to choose ThirtyFifty over the others. Helen's contact was also very thoughtful and reassuring. 5 stars!

Yes all went great thanks, Rob was great and provided some really interesting wine facts - he’d even researched the only winery in Cambodia which was a nice touch! Everyone really enjoyed it and we even found a red that some of the non-red drinkers liked!

The venue was great actually. We were in a private room that looked like a boardroom and very formal when we arrived, but worked really well for both the tasting and dinner. It was the perfect size for a group approx. 10 to 16 people. The food was very nice too.

Saturday was absolutely fantastic. We all had a fabulous time and David was great - he made it all a lot of fun and very interesting. He is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions...of which there were many on a whole variety of wines and champagnes. Saturday night with Camilla was fantastic, we all had a great night and she accommodated our group perfectly. We had a few party games running while the tasting was happening and she kept us all interested and light-hearted at the same time. We would definitely invite her back for the next one.

We were treated to a Champagne and Sparkling Wine tasting evening last Saturday evening by our Son and Daughter as a 60th Birthday present. We didn't really know what to expect but as the weather was so nice we held it in the garden and Helen was really knowledgeable and made it a really enjoyable evening. Our friends and family that took part all have told us how much they enjoyed the evening, especially as one of them never really drank Champagne much but has now got the taste for it. Things went extremely well. Chris gave a most enthusiastic and educational presentation, I learnt a great deal. One doesn't tend to sit with a glass of wine, a cube of sugar and pinch of sat and then nibble the sugar and take a sip of wine, followed by a taste of salt and a sip of wine and comment on how one finds the difference. Quite an eye opener. And that is long before one gets to chew the chilli and sip the wine! When we got a chance to try the wines without the 'add-ons' they were very enjoyable and not much went into the spittoons.
We are already talking about inviting Chris back next year for another of his presentations.

Hi Camilla, We just want to thank you for such a unique and educational evening! Everyone there commented on how good he was and a few people had done similar things before and said how much better Rob was than those they had encountered previously. He struck the perfect balance between professional and fun and is clearly very knowledgeable about wines - what a fantastic job he has! I am just writing to thank you for sending Abbie to put on such an interesting and informative wine tasting evening. Everyone has said how much they enjoyed it and how much they learnt as well. It was a very entertaining and relaxed evening which helped to celebrate Tony's 70th birthday - he certainly enjoyed it and it was something very different which gave a wonderful focus for the evening and provoked some interesting discussions and wild guesses!! It all added to the fun.

Like the last private tasting session I had 2 years ago, once again I (and my mates) really enjoyed the wine tasting session held by Abbie on Saturday night. Abbie was very professional and it was much appreciated that she was flexible to starting the session a little later than planned due to 2 late comers. I thought Abbie gauged the audience and level of tasting experience well and manage to keep the session very entertaining for everyone. The wines were a good selection and I was impressed with how well the food pairing part worked with the wines selected. Thanks again for the no fuss organising and professionalism.

Jane - I just wanted to say a big thankyou again for helping make our weekend away the most memorable one we have ever had. Everyone really enjoyed the wine tasting, learning a lot from you whilst also having such fun. You were really relaxed and got everyone involved, and I'm sure we have converted one or two to drink wine now and the more experienced drinkers already to appreciate it more. The converted were really enjoying the wine, so much so we continued to drink plenty of it during dinner, they were both excellent quality wines, and we all therefore ended up with slightly sore heads in the morning.
