- Michael Saunders on Bibendum Wines
Overview
Michael Saunders is the managing director of Bibendum, joining in its first year of trading in 1982. The business consisted of a shop in Primrose Hill selling fine wines and was owned originally by Chris Collins. The company still sells fines wine direct to private clients but the main business is now wholesale, selling to the restaurant trade as well as retailers. Their first restaurant client was Odette's and happily their timing coincided with the rise of restaurants and the trend for eating out in the 1980s. Bibendum is the UK agent for many wine producers throughout the world and has a huge portfolio of wines.
