Cru Beaujolais with Christophe Coquard

This show was published 16 November 2012

Overview

In the show this week we talk about the 12 appellations of Beaujolais but focus on the 10 Cru Beaujolais. These are the sub regions that make up the Beaujolais-Villages appellation, along with Beaujolais appellation which is used for Beaujolais Nouveau. We find out how the soils and climate can influence the Gamay grape to create the themes that make up the Crus, how the style and weight changes, and talk about some the the Crus you don't normally see in the UK. From north to south the Beaujolais crus are Saint-Amour, Juliénas, Chénas, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Chiroubles, Morgon, Régnié, Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly. Find out which of the wines can be aged for up to 10 years and which are best drunk young, fresh and fruity.
