Beaujolais bucks trend with 35% increase in red wine exports to the UK

Beaujolais’ exports to the UK appear to be bucking a trend with exports up 35% in volume and 19% by value in the first 8 months of 2019.

The rise of Beaujolais has been against a trend in sales for white and rosé wines, but the Beaujolais trend may not continue, with the 2019 harvest down by 50% vs 2018, in the 12 Beaujolais appellations, and 25% down over a five-year average, after frost, drought and hail storms reduced the yields.
