New South Wales flooding as harvest season gets underway
Some of the worst flooding in 60 years has hit Australia’s New South Wales wine region, just as harvest gets underway.
The deluge began late last week and has claimed the lives of 9 people so far with 500,000 people on flood alert or told to evacuate.
The rain is falling just as Australia’s wine industry is preparing to pick grapes. Coastal wine regions such as Hunter Valley, Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven Coast and Mudgee have all been affected.
