Napa Valley name now explicitly protected in UK
The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV), a nonprofit trade association who have 550 wineries as members, have secured protection for using the Napa Valley name in the UK under the UK-based Certification Mark scheme.
Napa Valley wines have been protected under European legislation since 2007 when they acquired GI status in Europe, however when the UK leaves the EU, this protection may not be automatically passed into UK law. The NVV has secured name protection assurances for Napa Valley from more than a dozen other countries.
