Earth Wind and Fire

After the fires in the Napa Valley last week, it was the trade body Wines of Chile who were confirming the impact of an 8.3 earthquake. Nearly 1m people were forced to leave their homes after the earthquake struck Coquimbo wine region and killing 10 people. Reports suggest that the wine industry in the area hasn't been badly affected. There were some wineries in the area near La Serena, who reported buckled steel tank legs and some cracks in the tanks but minimal loss of wine. Meanwhile the elements in Bordeaux proved a challenge for the Bordeaux red harvest. The area has recorded between 40-60mm of rain. This is 3 times the rainfall in the area in 2014. The white harvest has been picked but the red harvest will find continuing rain more troubling.
