ASA rule Edinburgh Gin misleading

The ASA have ruled that Edinburgh's Pickering Gin advertising is misleading. Pickerings Twitter and Local news media claimed in it's advertising that Edinburgh's first gin distillery in over 150years was misleading. Pickerings Gin was launched in 2013 in the Summerhall arts centre which already contained a brewery. Research they had done had shown that there was some evidence of gin being distilled on these premises. The ASA ruled that there had clearly been gin distilled in Edinburgh since 1863 and hence their wording was misleading. Pickerings have since added the word exclusive to their wording in any advertising. Not the first time a ruling hasn't worked in Scotland's favour - don't mention the rugby!
