Denbies becomes first UK Net Zero Wineyard

Denbies has announced that it has become the first UK net zero winery after a bumper harvest in 2023 resulted in a net carbon balance of -96 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

Denbies claims to be net zero for scope 1,2 & 3. Scope 1 are direct emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the entity, for example, emissions from company-owned vehicles, on-site fuel combustion.

Scope 2 are emissions are indirect emissions associated with the consumption of purchased electricity, heat, or steam. Scope 3 are indirect emissions that occur in the value chain such as fertiliser use, pesticide application, bottles business travel and employee commuting.
