Champagne finishes early harvest as UK starts

Just as Champagne's last grapes have been picked, the UK is gearing up for its harvest, with picking times getting earlier in the season for all producers.

Champagne had a big harvest with trade association, The Comité Champagne, setting a 12,000 kg/ha limit, the highest in 15 years. Winegrowers’ president, Maxime Toubart, said winegrowers have been able to rebuild reserves that were substantially depleted by the 2021 winegrowing year. The harvest started early on the 25th August 2022

Meanwhile, Nyetimber started their UK sparkling wine harvest on Thursday 28th September. They are expecting to harvest 1,600 tonnes/325ha, or 4,900 kg/ha, under half of Champagne's yield limit.
