Bordeaux 2019 en primeur prices continue to soften recent releases with 2 first growths Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Haut Brion are down 30% with Château Haut Brion now €282 (£252, $320) per bottle from the négociant. Also released Lynch Bage and Hut Bataliiley are down around 26% and 22% respectively. The few journalist who did manage to taste the wines have given scores in the mid to high 90’s
Price may be down but so are the volumes available. Gibbs of Liv-ex said to Decanter ‘There is considerable frustration [in the trade] around volumes, where the price is right, it is near impossible to develop new clients because the châteaux have chosen to reduce the volumes released (despite the generous yields of the vintage)'.
