New book details all the UK's vineyards
Another of this year’s handful of books on English wine has just been published. The latest is the UK Vineyards Guide 2008, by wine writer Stephen Skelton MW. The book, which is the third edition, contains a history of viticulture in the UK from pre-Roman times to the modern day, has information on growing conditions and grape varieties as well as details of the 348 vineyards in England, Wales, Ireland and the Channel Isles.
Julia Trustram Eve, marketing director for English Wine Producers, said that the book was, ‘The most comprehensive guide to the industry today, with listings of virtually every vineyard and background information on them.’
Stephen, who has been involved with growing vines and making wine since 1975, published his first edition of the Guide back in 1989. The second, published in 2001, won the Andre Simon Award for Drinks Book of the Year.
The latest Guide, priced at £19.95, is only available online via lulu.com/content/2754599.
